Where can we run from the cruel pain inflicted by life in this world? Pain can be deep and unrelenting from many sources- divorce, abuse, cancer, betrayal from one we trusted, disease, grief over a death, loss of abilities that steal your independence, unwanted changes-the list is unending. Pain hurts. We always hope it will just “go away” and leave us be. What joy when/if that happens!Miracles do happen and God heals. But what if the pain doesn’t go away? What if it is like a runaway freight train, unstoppable and racing towards an unknown end? Emotions can cut to us to shreds leaving us vulnerable and bleeding to death from a broken heart. It is just as disabling as physical pain. No pills, No drugs, not even a million dollars has the power to fix it.
Tears often roll down my face as I type. Writing is work I love and can do but this body hurts. The tears leak out when I no longer can handle the pain by stuffing it inside. I sometimes want to quit. Yet there is a purpose Greater than myself Who compels me on in spite of the challenges. One Day, things will get better! I believe in healing miracles. If I am not healed here; Heaven awaits me. Then I will be in the Presence of One Who loves me most and the One I love with all my heart. He put me here for a purpose. It is only by His grace and power I will fulfill my purpose. Even if tears run down my face in the midst of reaching the goal set before me.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. 17 For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, 18 while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal
I think if we had a clue of what awaits us in Heaven we would change our world by our pure excitement. No great vacation or event can even come close to comparing the eternal peace and delight of Heaven. This is true Prevailing Hope and motivation to finish the race.
1 Cor. 2:8-10 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory; 9 but just as it is written,
“Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard,
And which have not entered the heart of man,
All that God has prepared for those who love Him.”
10For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.
May we look beyond what we see and feel and worship our LORD Who sees all and has a plan for our lives so far beyond our wildest imaginations – it will be Heaven!
