How Do You Walk?

Most people never think about it. Walking is a function that doesn’t take focus or purpose for most people.  It is something I used to take for grant it.  Then Multiple Sclerosis introduced me to the truth.  Walking,  as is every function of the human body is an awesome miracle.

Tartarughe al soleThese days, I walk carefully and focused. Besides compromised vision, my right foot sometimes drops just enough to trip me and my legs just don’t move well. I walk deliberately, cautiously and as slow as a “herd of turtles” (that is my fastest mode:).  But thanks be to God and His grace, I  still walk.

You may think this doesn’t apply to able-bodied persons but it does. For me it  became an AHA moment in my spiritual walk. In a world that is growing darker we must consider our steps and walk as Paul says:

Eph. 5;15 Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.

There are way to many distractions in the world that can draw us away from God’s purpose. We are busy. We are tired. We many things that can and will trip us up. Before we realize it we fall for the deceitfulness of evil dressed up as doing good deeds, believing everything we hear and not thinking for ourselves; rather than staying in the Word of God. How do I know this? Because it is easy to do. I’ve done it.

Just as I HAVE to watch how I physically walk, I must focused on my spiritual walk. Am I pursuing after what I want to do to please others and myself or what I know I should be doing. Do I believe everyone who calls themselves a preacher or do I check what they say out with the Word of God.

Proverbs 14:15 The simple believes everything,
    but the prudent gives thought to his steps

We must not become lazy and believe everything we hear or see. God’s Word is the final authority. We must think and watch where we are walking.  When we pursue Christ with all of our heart, soul and mind He will keep us from stumbling.

Proverbs  4:26 Ponder the path of your feet;
    then all your ways will be sure.
27 Do not swerve to the right or to the left;
    turn your foot away from evil.

Our Prevailing Hope is in Christ Jesus!

Jude 24 Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, 25 to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
